ISBR Celebrates World Earth Day 2025 with Sustainability Initiatives and Student Innovation

In a powerful celebration of World Earth Day 2025, ISBR Business School reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and environmental stewardship. The event, orchestrated by the Sustainability Club under the leadership of Environmentalist and Professor of Practice, Prof. Shiva Prakash, witnessed an inspiring convergence of education, action, and creativity.

This year’s global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlights the critical role of renewable energy in combating climate change and building a sustainable future. Earth Day 2025 calls for the urgent scaling up of clean energy generation, aiming to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030. Aligned with this vision, ISBR Business School curated a series of thought-provoking and action-oriented activities to sensitize students on pressing global challenges such as climate change, global warming, and waste management.

Embedding Sustainable Values: 4Rs for a Greener Tomorrow

Students were actively engaged in workshops emphasizing life-changing sustainability principles:

  • Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (4Rs)
  • My Waste, My Responsibility
  • Live on Less – Embracing a Simplistic Lifestyle
  • Less is More – Redefining Priorities for Sustainable Living

Through immersive discussions and participatory activities, students internalized the philosophy that small, consistent actions contribute significantly to planetary well-being.

Driving Behavioural Change: ‘Nudge the Commuter’ Challenge

In a unique initiative aligned with the upcoming launch of the Electronics City Metro Station, students participated in the ‘Nudge the Commuter Behaviour’ challenge. In teams, they brainstormed strategies to encourage sustainable commuter practices, promoting public transport adoption as a means to reduce urban carbon footprints.

Creativity Meets Sustainability: Waste Management Innovation

To foster innovation and practical application of sustainability principles, students were provided with a waste materials kit and tasked with developing functional products within a limited time. The exercise sparked remarkable creativity, leading to innovative upcycling solutions that demonstrated both environmental awareness and entrepreneurial thinking.

Celebrating Changemakers: Rewards for Sustainability Champions

All participating students received awards in the form of curated books focused on life skills, sustainability, and environmental leadership, further reinforcing ISBR’s ethos of continuous learning and social responsibility.
